49ers Super Bowl Odds: Slow Start Hurts San Francisco’s Chances

San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl odds have been updated at sportsbooks across the US including DraftKings California and FanDuel California.

The 49ers dropped to 1-2 after an 11-10 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football. It’s been an eventful start to the season for San Francisco.

Trey Lance suffered a broken ankle and torn ligaments against Seattle in Week 2. Lance is out for the season, and Jimmy Garoppolo is back as the starting QB. WR Deebo Samuel and TE George Kittle are San Francisco’s primary weapons on offense. Kittle missed the first two games of the season due to a groin injury.

49ers Super Bowl 57 Futures Odds Lengthen After Week 3 Loss

Odds are updated as of Sept. 27.

Before Week 1, 49ers Super Bowl odds were at +1600 across the board. San Francisco can now be found in the +1800 to +2000 range after it dropped to 1-2 following the loss at Denver.

San Francisco now has a Monday Night Football clash with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4. The 49ers had LA’s number in the regular season last year, winning and covering both games before losing to the Rams in the NFC Championship game.

49ers left tackle Trent Williams suffered an apparent ankle sprain in the loss at Denver. His status for MNF was uncertain as of this writing, and that’s a scary proposition as San Francisco’s offense struggled without him.

Garoppolo threw for just 211 yards with one TD and one pick. The 49ers failed to rush for 100 yards as a team. San Francisco also turned the ball over three times against Denver. The 49ers will have to tighten up their game at home on Monday night against the Rams.

49ers Have Weapons to Contend

WR Deebo Samuel held out for a better contract, and he was rewarded handsomely. Samuel is one of the most explosive talents in the NFL, but he’s off to a slow start to the 2022 season. Through three games, he had amassed 131 receiving yards and no TDs to go with 111 yards rushing and one TD.

Compare that to last season when Samuel caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six TDs last season. He also rushed for 365 yards and 8 TDs in 2021, marking the first time in NFL history that a player produced 1,400 receiving yards and 300 rushing yards in a single season.

Samuel was bottled up by the Broncos on the ground in the Week 3 loss. He rushed five times for just six yards. Samuel did have five catches for 73 yards through the air.

Kittle’s absence during the first two weeks of the season also hurt San Francisco’s cause. He’s among the NFL’s most talented tight ends, but only caught four passes for 28 yards in his return against the Broncos.

Kittle registered 910 receiving yards and six TDs a season ago. He’ll need to begin producing at a higher level if San Francisco is to make another deep playoff run.

49ers Face a Tough NFL Schedule

San Francisco has the fifth-most difficult schedule in the NFL this season.

The slate gets tough with two divisional games against the Rams. San Francisco will also be tested by the Chiefs and LA Chargers in two pivotal nonconference games. Keep an eye on Week 14, too, when the 49ers host Tampa Bay in a critical late-season matchup.

Before the season, DraftKings had San Francisco’s season win total pegged at 9.5 with the over at -125 and the under at +105. After the 1-2 start, the over has dropped to -105 with the under at -115.  The 49ers finished 10-7 last season.

San Francisco ranked third in total defense last season. The 49ers bolstered their secondary by signing former Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward during the offseason. Ward was third on the squad with 18 tackles as of this writing, and he also made his first interception as a 49er against Seattle.

The 49ers return most of their front seven pieces including Pro Bowler Nick Bosa. Bosa led the 49ers last year with 15.5 sacks, which ranked fourth in the league. He’s off to another solid start this year with four sacks in his first three games.

What Other NFL Futures Bets Can You Make?

NFL futures odds are available throughout the year. You can also bet the 49ers to win the NFC West Division. FanDuel offered the following odds before the season:

  • Rams +130
  • 49ers  +165
  • Cardinals +430
  • Seahawks +1100

Futures odds are also available on what team will win the NFC championship. BetMGM California was dealing San Francisco at +950 before the season. Tampa Bay was the betting favorite at +280.

It’s always important to compare futures odds at multiple California sportsbooks before making your bet. The 49ers were being dealt consistently at +1600 before the season, but what if you wanted to bet on the New York Giants to win Super Bowl 57? FanDuel had the Giants at +8500 and DraftKings offered them at +13000. That’s a considerable difference in terms of value.

It’s important to open accounts at different sportsbooks. You can take advantage of multiple California sports betting bonuses, but as important, you’ll have the ability to shop around the market for the best odds on your bets in the future.
