Honeymoon Stakes

Honeymoon Stakes

This American Grade II race designed for three-year-old fillies and is a thoroughbred race ran over 9 furlongs in the spring of each year. The race started in 1952 and is currently held at Santa Anita Park, in Arcadia, California.

Sircat Sally won the 2017 event, ridden by Mike E. Smith, who had also won on Cheekaboo the year prior. This race has changed names several times over the years, previously being known as the Sea Breeze Stakes, and the Honeymoon Handicap before taking its current name. It has also changed venue, having previously been run at the Hollywood Park Racetrack. This left-handed turf track offers a prize purse worth $200,000 to its winner and is considered a preparation race for the American Oaks, held in the summer.

Other popular horse races at Santa Anita Park are the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap
