Sportsbooks generally offer similar odds, with slight variations between each bookmaker (which is why we always recommend shopping for lines.) Sometimes books are known for consistently offering slightly better numbers for favorites or underdogs.

Fliff’s odds are in line with all of the major sportsbooks, but it doesn’t have any category where it truly excels. Let’s use some LA Lakers odds, in a Feb. 9 game against the Milwaukee Bucks, as an example. 

Fliff vs. DraftKings Moneyline Odds

Fliff Sportsbook offered the best California betting odds on the Bucks at -375. This means a $100 pick would pay out $126.67 if Milwaukee beat Los Angeles. However, DraftKings California had the more favorable odds on the Lakers at +310. A $100 wager would yield $410 if LA won.

Sports betting sites charge a fee to handle bets (or picks in Fliff’s case). This is known as the vig or juice. Fliff’s vig for this game, based on the odds it offered, was 4.59%. (Again, this is all in fake currency.) DraftKings had a lower vig at 3.56%.

At the time of this writing, Fliff’s A-to-Z list of sports was much smaller compared to BetMGM California, DraftKings, and FanDuel.

What Types of Bets Can I Make at Fliff?

Every type you can think of, even including a form of futures bets.

Fliff doesn’t have futures bets for sports out of season, or really any traditional type of futures odds. However, is is currently offering futures odds for the Super Bowl.

Fliff provides tons of markets for each contest, including props.

Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the regular options:

💰 Moneyline: Moneyline bets are often the most common in legal US real-money sportsbooks, and it’s no different with Fliff. Simply pick the team you think will win the matchup. If that team wins, you win. If that team loses, you lose. Underdogs have steeper odds, so correctly picking an underdog would lead to more winnings. But it’s harder to correctly pick an underdog.

💰 Spread: Point spread bets revolve around the margin of victory. Let’s look at football betting. Take 49ers odds as an example, where the Niners are favored by 3.5 points against the Chargers, picking the 49ers to cover would mean they’d need to win by 4 or more points. Meanwhile, picking the Chargers to cover would mean they’d need to lose by 3 or fewer points or win.

💰 Total: Another widely popular option, total bets deal with the total points scored. So, if that 49ers-Chargers game has a predicted total of 42.5 points, a pick on the Over would require 43 or more points scored to win, and a wager on the Under would need 42 or fewer points scored to win. These picks are often called Over/Under picks.

💰 Props: Prop bets focus on specific outcomes during a game. Some examples from football betting: Which team will score first, will one team score three unanswered touchdowns, will one team record a safety, etc.

💰 Live betting: Yes, a bettor can do live betting — or live picking — with Fliff. Go up to the “In Play” section at the top of the app to see your options. With live betting, odds fluctuate as the game or contest progresses. Ideally, you want a high-quality live stream for the best live betting experience.

💰 Parlay: A parlay bet is a bet that contains multiple legs. That means the payout could be significant, but it’s also much harder to win, because every single leg needs to win in order for the parlay to win. You can include legs from multiple sports and leagues.

💰 Same Game Parlay: This is exactly what it sounds like — a parlay with multiple bets from one game. It’s often referred to as an SGP, or SGPs.

💰 Futures: A Fliff futures bet is a little different from your normal bet. Instead of offering odds on teams to win the championship throughout the season, Fliff lists futures odds entering the playoffs — and then pairs those odds with odds for “Any Other Team” to win, so it still appears in a moneyline format.

As of February 2023, the Fliff app had 4.8 stars with 22,100 reviews on the Apple Store for iOS users, and it had 4.6 stars with 1,560 reviews on the Google Play Store for Android users. It only takes up 46.4 MB of space, which is nice.

A recent five-star rating from Jan. 23, 2023, says: “This app is the best if you’re not trying to spend any real money during the week or something but you like making picks.”

One recent two-star review from Dec. 18, 2022, claims their account got hacked: “(Their) customer support is the worst I have ever seen; I’ve sent so many complaints about this and have only gotten one response stating multiple sports books were hacked.”

If true, that would be a significant problem for that player. However, in fairness, that would be an issue with the company security and not the quality of the mobile app experience.

The Fliff Social Sportsbook app works fine, as it’s easy to place a bet, navigate from sport to sport, and search for different leagues. There is even a section for live picks.

If you’re looking for a true sports betting app, head to BetMGM, DraftKings, Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel, or BetRivers California. But, for Fliff being a new promotional sweepstakes platform, we were impressed with the app. It has a sleek green and blue design, and the parlay pick process is easy to access and understand.

You can also toggle between betting with Fliff Coins and Fliff Cash, and the app clearly tells you how much profit you’ll make for whatever value you choose to spend.

If we used movie ratings to rate Fliff California, it would qualify as a “G” movie for all audiences. But, hey, some G movies are awesome. Case in point: Ratatouille. 

The customer service at Fliff isn’t extensive. It provides a contact form to send an email. (You could also just email [email protected].) The response time is reasonable, but we’re really missing the 24/7 live chat option. Fliff also doesn’t have a help center with FAQs and resource pages for certain topics.

The app’s Twitter, @Fliff, will occasionally reply to customers although it’s not common.

As of this writing, there is no Fliff customer service phone number.

Does Fliff Have a Rewards Program?

Yes.

Fliff users can accumulate experience points, or XP, by making Fliff Coin picks, completing challenges, inviting friends to join Fliff, purchasing Fliff Coin bundles, or purchasing gift cards.

Then, users can claim rewards using their XP, such as gift cards or real cash prizes. Every 1 XP is equal to $0.01 in Fliff Cash.

This overall score is based on the marks it received in the previous categories. To be fair, we’re not exactly comparing apples to apples here as Fliff offers a different value proposition for consumers at online sports betting sites.

The bottom line is, in the future, seasoned sports bettors will be better served at major sportsbooks, such as BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel. The Fliff app is better for sports fans seeking a social component to complement the prediction action.

But, for now, while sports betting is still illegal in California until 2025 at the earliest, this is the only way to legally bet on sports in California.
